"And there was this one day I will never forget. I was about 7 years old and there was maybe 3 of us kids were going to go across to start packing the salmon. And we were playing and when we got to the cable we were still kinda playing with each other and all of a sudden I just stepped over. And I dropped over that platform onto the rock and from that rock I bounced all the way into the falls. And it was a rough...But there was one fisherman down there, he was fishing with line and he had a boat and he rowed out. I came up once and so he rode kind of towards where I might be coming up again. And I guess it wasn't my day 'cause he just grabbed me by the hair and pulled me on that boat. And I was pretty broken up. I had a broken leg and different parts of my face had a break in it and my eye was completely out on one side. It was just like dangling over here. But I did come to and I was looking at all the people and I had on a dress and I pulled my dress [laughs] like you know, still modest. And they packed me up and put me in an ambulance and took me to The Dalles. I was there for about a week, maybe, and then they sent me to Tacoma to recover up there. And so it was an experience I'll never forget. And I don't think anybody has a picture of that drop or the building to that cable. But it was quite a drop. And I’ve never seen any pictures of it, any place. But being a fighter I recovered and I'm still here today. And that was one of the things I remember about Celilo."
