Cultural Narrative: 

Studio portrait of Thomas Lindsey who is holding a tim’úuni (rifle). A number of rocks are placed at his feet. Known to L.V. McWhorter as Thomas Lindsey, or Wat Yu Tsa Kaun, McWhorter contacted his interpreter Williams and asked him to translate Thomas Lindsey's Nez Perce name. According to Williams this name translates roughly into Stop Lightning in the Mountains. Lindsey and McWhorter met at the páasx?pa (Walla Walla) frontier days festival. Lindsey fought in the 1877 Nez Perce War.
